In 2017, Tay-K went on the run while facing criminal charges, landing him on the most wanted list. During his time as a fugitive, he released "The Race," a song chronicling his situation, which became a viral hit in the underground rap scene. His arrest shortly after the song's release only increased his notoriety, making him one of the most controversial figures in the scene.
