Richard David James, known worldwide as Aphex Twin , is a British musician, composer, and DJ. Recognized for his unique style within 1990s electronic music, he particularly excelled in genres such as techno and ambient. He has also been associated with the Intelligent Dance Music (IDM) subgenre, although he himself has rejected that label. In 2001, journalist Paul Lester of The Guardian described him as "the most inventive and influential figure in contemporary electronic music."
